Two 1/4 sheet of Arches cold press 140lb bright white paper
Professional grade watercolors. I use Mijello Mission Gold brand watercolors: Permanent Yellow Light (yellow), Indian Yellow (gold), Light Red (burnt orange), Permanent Rose, Scarlet Lake, Cobalt 2, Peacock, Ultramarine Blue, Olive Green,
Scissors
Salt
Lead Pencil or watercolor pencil in white, yellow or gunmetal color
A Soft Rag
Wax Paper
Set of scrubby brushes, i.e.: Scharff Moon Brushes #222 sizes #2, #4 and #6
Schraff medium round wash brush
Your usual painting supplies which should include 2 water containers, paper towels, pop up tissues, Scharff #310 White Nylon round brushes #8 and #4, a 3” Hake brush to wet paper, a spray bottle for water.
Optional- rubber stamps of trees

Carol Spohn is a watercolor/mixed media artist and instructor from Saint Paul Minnesota where she lives with her husband Cozzie and two cats. Carol recently retired to be a full time artist and instructor. Carol enjoys teaching others to paint even more than she loves painting. Her step by step methods enables each student to be successful in creating art. She is a popular instructor at painting conventions and art retreats, sharing her joy of painting with students throughout the country.
Carol believes everyone has a creative spirit and her classes are a perfect opportunity to learn techniques enabling students to nurture their skills. Her philosophy is to embrace the joy and not make art so hard. Make one decision at a time and see where that leads you. Students of all levels will be successful.
