SPPS Community Education offers a variety of classes designed for adults with developmental disabilities to explore interests, meet with peers, have fun and learn new skills!

Como Planetarium is a 55-seat planetarium inside Como Elementary School. We take visitors on virtual trips through the solar system, and also provide interactive educational experiences. Public programs are available on select Tuesdays throughout the school-year and listed here when available. Youth 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Enrollment in summer Discovery Club is not considered a currently enrolled contract. _________________________________________________________________________________ Registration Information Contracts (accepted or pending) do not carry over from summer to school year or year to year. All families, including families on the wait list, must register annually for any future care. Registrations will be reviewed in the order that they were received by our online system, and could take up to 10 business days to process. In order for a registration to be processed, all program balances must be paid in full. Accounts with a balance overdue will not be processed. Students must be enrolled and attending in the St. Paul Public School District in order to receive Discovery Club child care services. (We do not offer care to out-of-district students in our program during the school year. This includes families who live within the district boundaries but attend a charter or private school.) 2026-2027 Child Care Rates Families can select before school care, after school care, or a combination based on your child’s school schedule. Days of care may range from three to five days per week, per care session. Contracted days must remain the same for each week. Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $49.00/child/contract charged at the time that the contract is accepted. Before School Offered for students who attend schools with an 8:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. start time 6:30 - 8:30 a.m. $12.60/day $63.00/week 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. $18.85/day $94.25/week After School Starts at the end of the school's regular day and goes until 6:00 p.m. Snack provided 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. $25.15/day $125.75/week 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. $18.85/day $94.25/week 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. $12.60/day $63.00/week Drop-in days add $5.00/session/day; available to children currently enrolled and subject to space available. Schedule changes require a one week notice and are subject to space availability. A $25 per child schedule change fee applies. Families are invoiced bi-weekly, after the care happens and payments are due on the following Friday. Accounts will receive a late payment fee if balance is not paid on the due date. Accounts past due are subject to withdrawal of contracted care. Saint Paul Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) offers parent and early childhood education for families with children between birth and kindergarten age. ECFE is based on the idea that the family provides a child's first and most important learning environment, and parents are a child's first and most significant teachers. ECFE works to strengthen families and enhance the ability of all parents to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children. A typical ECFE class consists of three learning sections: - Together Time: ECFE most often begins with parent/child activities in the children’s classroom. - Parents' Time: Parents then separate from their children and join together for a discussion group facilitated by a Parent Educator. - Childrens' Time: While the parents are in discussion, children continue to participate in activities facilitated by an Early Childhood Teacher.

Saint Paul Public Schools Nature Discovery Pre-Kindergarten is a fee-based program offering both full and 1/2 day Pre-K options, with extended day and after-school childcare options through Discovery Club (DC). Nature Discovery Pre-K class is open to children that turn 3 years old by September 1 and are not Kindergarten eligible. Nature PreK provides licensed teachers and curriculum that focuses on learning in a nature-based setting as well as bringing nature into the classroom. This program will run on the Saint Paul Public Schools calendar. 2026-27 Nature PreK Registration is Open!! 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR INFORMATION 2026-27 CLASSES & FEES: Afterschool childcare is available at both sites for Pre-K students 4 years old by September 1. Please see spps.org/discoveryclub for more information. 2026-27 REGISTRATION GUIDELINES Enrollment is not guaranteed and is based on space availability. Once you complete the online registration, you will be put on a “pending approval status” in the order the registration is received. Your credit card will not be charged for the registration fee until your child is confirmed in the program. Once you are approved, you will receive an email confirmation and your credit card will be charged the registration fee. Annual preschool registration requires a non-refundable fee of $79. After registrations meet the maximum number, additional registrations go onto the waitlist and if space becomes available, you will be notified. Monthly tuition is processed on the first Friday of each month. CANCELLATION POLICY: When you register for preschool you are registering for the entire school year: Sept.-May. Cancellation midyear requires a 1-week written notice and a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel between June 30-August 1 you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee. If you cancel on or after August 1, 2026, you will be responsible for the first month FULL tuition. AFTER SCHOOL CARE Discovery Club is available to students aged 4 and older (by September 1). Extended Day Care Options For the 25-26 School Year: St. Anthony Park Location offers: Extended day care (11AM-2PM) is available to students enrolled in Nature Pre-K and are 3 years old by September 1, 2025. Discovery Club after school care (2PM-6PM) is available to students enrolled in Nature Pre-K and are 4 years old by September 1, 2025. Please register for the WHOLE DAY you want your child at school. JJ Hill Location: After school Discovery Club child care is available to students who are 4 years old by September 1, 2025 and attending Nature Discovery PreK at J.J. Hill. Discovery Club is available from 3-6pm Monday-Friday at the J.J. Hill location. Families may elect to sign up for Discovery Club for a minimum of 3 and up to 5 days per week.
