Creative Characters: Sewing & Self-Expression

Broderick Poole is a Twin Cities visual artist from Saint Paul’s Rondo neighborhood. He began creating art in grade school, earning national publication in 1996, a milestone that fueled his passion for mentoring youth and building community through the arts. Over the years, Broderick has worked with numerous organizations, using his talents to inspire young people to view art not only as creative expression but as a viable career path. In 2003, he launched what is now Vintage Poole Art, one of Minnesota’s early streetwear brands, and has since supported more than one hundred clients with logo design, patchwork, acrylic paintings, and apparel production across the Twin Cities and Chicago. His artwork—rooted in his environment and community—features vibrant acrylic portrayals of landscapes, cultural icons, and youth envisioning their futures.
