Swim Instructor Training

Interested in helping others learn to swim? Learn how to teach swim lessons for all ages, from toddler to adult!

What You’ll Do:

• Assist certified instructors during lessons

• Demonstrate skills and encourage swimmers

• Help create a safe, positive, and energetic learning environment

• Build communication and teaching skills in real time

Requirements:

• Be 14 years or older

• Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and strong swimming skills

• Complete a skills pre-test on the first day. You must confidently demonstrate Level 5 skill-level proficiency in several swimming strokes including: 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke, as well as 15 yards of butterfly. You must also tread water for 2 minutes and perform a standing dive.

How the Training Works:

• You participate in classroom learning and in-pool training. 

• Certification awarded upon successful completion of all training components

After you finish the course, you’ll have the skills to apply for a position with Community Education Aquatics. It offers a great way to build experience in a supportive environment, and earn money along the way.

Participants unable to pass the skills pre-test will be refunded the course fee minus a $10 processing fee.
