Xiao Hong Guo

Xiao Hong Guo was born in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in southwest China. Often called the “Spring City” due to its year-round mild climate, Kunming is where she began her academic career. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Yunnan University in 1988. Following her studies, she taught at Kunming Medical College, eventually serving as an associate professor in the School of Pharmacy.

In 1998, she moved to the United States to conduct research at the University of Minnesota. She spent approximately ten years at the University of Minnesota Medical School as a lab manager and researcher, followed by a career at a biotechnology company in Minneapolis until her retirement two years ago.

Her children grew up in St. Paul, where they were active participants in community education programs. Now retired, she is eager to give back to that same community by sharing her knowledge of Chinese language and culture. She currently resides in St. Paul and enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
